Hace un par de meses hice unas fotos para participar en un concurso que abrió el IED (Instituto Europeo di Design) donde estoy estudiando. 

El concurso se llamaba : "My City". Debías describir a tu cuidad a través de una serie de fotos. Dependiendo del Master que te interesaba, tenías que hacer un tipo de fotos en específico. Yo estaba aplicando para la beca del Master en Fashion Communication, en Milán, por lo cual, debía describir a mi ciudad a través de una editorial de moda (o algo que se le pareciera) además de escribir un texto que acompañara al proyecto. 

El mio se llamó: "My own private Caracas". Consistió en reproducir fotos mías de cuando era pequeña y, de alguna manera, mostrar cómo vuelven las tendencias, cómo cambia el escenario (Caracas) y, también, su protagonista (yo)

Casi casi no hago las fotos. Por eso quiero aprovechar para agradecer a Lúber Mujica y a Adriana Rodríguez, por el brainstorming y la idea. A Roberto Irwin por todo y por ayudarme a hacerlas, y a los que me prestaron cositas para las fotos. Merci à tous.

No me gané la beca, pero sí un cupo en el Master, así que... Thanx, again.

My own private Caracas

There’s a popular radio show here in Venezuela that aires every morning conducted by an important writer called Cesar Miguel Rondon. At the end of the show he always says: “…And from the city of Santiago de León de Caracas I wish you the best day you can have”. Knowing that Santiago de León de Caracas is how Caracas is really called is the kind of detail that makes me feel a little more caraqueña everyday.

Best known as just Caracas, the capital of this latin american country is a city in constant changing, the result of a colourful mix of cultures, noises, smells and looks.

Although I wasn’t born here I am a caraqueña. I came here when I was two years old and since then I have grown and changed along with my city, becoming a colourful mix of cultures, noises, smells and looks.

The eighties and the nineties are very popular today in fashion, inspiring looks with reminicence of those years. So I present you My own private Caracas where I’ll show you the streets I walked as a child wearing tipical styles of the eighties and early nineties, wich are the same I walk today as a woman, wearing different trends inspired by those years with a touch of 2010.

I pretend to show you how the looks of my city have evolved and how mine have evolved with hers, so you can have an idea how mi city looks and how people from Santiago de León de Caracas look as well.
